Not Quite. CentOS is RH with the identifiers scrubbed. Scientific
is RH curated for extra stability especially in libraries. The pace
of change is slowed in SL to enable custom written apps to not
have to change as infrequently as possible. 

Consider swtiching to CentOS for your purpose.
